13 secrets to success

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Here I will list 13 secrets I read which have helped me grow over the years online. I think each one plays a major role however there are a few that play a much bigger role than lets say the smaller ones. If you truly follow each one, I will guarantee you to be successful, in whatever you do.

1) Commitment - Stay committed never give up, if you do think about giving up call me I swear dumbest mistake you can make. Remember the sane our parents always told us, “when the going gets tough the tough gets going”. Its true!

2) Investment - Don’t spend too much on a single product or niche, but invest enough to get started and build a presence that is better than your competitors. I know some would think its a dumb strategy but I like to invest 100% profit into new products we are launching. I mean do you really need that Rolex? Save your money to invest!

3) Consistent - Similar to commitment, don’t give up your marketing plan, be consistent, don’t give up the first week you have tried marketing your product or service. I think 3 months is a good testing period, it also depends what market your in, I mean you wouldn’t want to sell Santa Claus outfits during the spring time your marketing campaign wouldn’t work. I sometimes like to test markets using PPC. PPC doesn’t always work, in fact I have had markets that brought $0 dollars in PPC then when we tried organics it worked.

4) Confident - Always be confident in your products and services it makes your customers feel confident which then leads them to purchasing your products and services.

5) Patient - Always keep your patience, money and success doesn’t come overnight nor do your rankings. It took me a long time until it felt like I unlocked the treasure chest to big rankings.

6) Assortment - Always offer an assortment of products so there is never a slow period. Keep doing product research to monetize off of different times of the year. This was always a hard thing for me to keep up to date and plan in advance.
7) Subsequent - The money always comes in after selling quality products, high rankings and smart web design. Always offer good customer service if your company interacts with your customers a lot, “a lot” meaning follow up calls, emails etc…

8) Convenient - Always make sure its easy for your customers to order your products. Your customers are lazy they don’t even like to scroll down the page to click the Order Now button.

9) Amazement - Create some amazement in your industry, remember controversy is usually a good thing. I like the PPC ads that say, “XBOX or PSP?”.

10) Measurement - Always use Analytic software whether its clicky, google, statcounter… track your visitors its very important you know where they are coming from and what keywords = orders.

11) Involvement - Contact your old customers they are much more valuable than new customers, still always treat your new customers as if they are going to buy. Having involvement in your company builds trust in your customers. It means your dedicated.

12) Dependent - Always be dependable, it builds respect for yourself in your industry, and people always remember who was dependable. You may think people forget but guess what that stuff sticks in the brain.

13) Augment - Once you have a strategy that works online, MAXIMIZE! One thing I seriously regret from doing when I played the blackhat game, there was so much I could have done.

Building your brand with excellent customer service

One of the most important things online is building your brand/name/product by having excellent customer service. Of course there is more and having a product that everyone wants is also very important. 9/10 times if you have an excellent product with excellent customer service you will have repeat customers. Repeat customers are built off of trust, having trust in the company that the first product they ordered was so good the second one will be as well.

We had a client for one of our companies that was not going to purchase our product, so we called him everyday asking if he needed any help or had any questions. It seemed like everyday something new popped up, still didn’t want to buy. Within 1 week, got a phone call and the order was placed. He later told me the only reason he purchased was because our sales team was so on top of their game, and our level of customer service was far superior than our competitors.

How to be successful

I think if you want to be successful always do things everyone else isn’t doing. This has to do with a lot of things, so when blogging is going crazy and tons of people have blogs that are generating $1k - $5k/ month rather than entering into blogging where the competition is so thick create a service that helps bloggers blog more easy, and helps them make more money. It is much easier said than done, but i have done this with loads of niches and have come out pretty successful each time.
